ecco a cosa mi riferivo quando parlavo del 1996 come anno eccezionale... e nello stesso anno bisognerebbe ricordare altre "perle", certo non inferiori a quelle citate da te:

-7% solution - all about satellites & spaceships (solitamente poco considerato, ma è forse addirittura il mio preferito di quella miracolosa annata)

-eels - beautiful freak

E anche in ambito metal mi risulta siano usciti lavori storici (Neurosis, Opeth...)

... allora io dico che il mio periodo preferito "più ricco" è 1955-1965 (ma vi/mi risparmio la lista...).

che invece sarebbe molto interessante, visto che è un periodo poco considerato da tutti (perlomeno in questo topic).


eh, ma il punto è che sarebbe inevitabilmente una lista sopratutto di brani singoli, considerato che quello è il periodo in cui gli album non avevano ancora grandissima diffusione (i primi veri album nel senso moderno uscirono proprio nel '65-'66: vale a dire "Rubber Soul", "Pet Sounds" e "Blonde on Blonde").

comunque magari mi cimenterò con la lista...

E' veramente difficile stabilire un periodo più ricco aliendosi dai propri gusti. Se dovessi cercare di essere il più obbiettivo possibile, in effetti lo 'stacco' che c'è stato dal 1967 al 1973 è incredibile, ma forse è più una mitizzazione di quegli anni che un dato oggettivo. Per il mio gusto ciò che è accaduto dal 1976 al 1981-82, insomma la new-wave, ha dello spettacolare. Ma in verità più ci si allontana da un periodo musicale e più si apprezza l'originalità e la peculiarità di quel lasso di tempo, proprio in questo periodo, lasciandomi andare solo alla memoria, sto realmente soppesando l'importanza e l'enorme gamma espressiva della musica anni '90.

Ma il fatto che il periodo fine 60 inizi 70 continui a resistere alla prova del tempo da 40 anni, deve fare riflettere.

Ma il fatto che il periodo fine 60 inizi 70 continui a resistere alla prova del tempo da 40 anni, deve fare riflettere.

Veramente anche il periodo 77-80 resiste alla prova del tempo. Ovviamente non può resistere alla prova dei 40 anni perchè è passato meno tempo... aldilà delle boutade, sicuramente il periodo da te indicato è favorito da una specie di aurea mitica che lo portano, ancora oggi, ad essere il portatore della maggior parte delle simbologie e dei luoghi comuni sul rock.

Credo che non si possa prescindere da certi avvenimenti epocali che portano a uno strappo netto con quanto c'era stato prima, proprio per motivi sociali e anche tecnologici. Più che di meriti penso siano situazioni contingenti insomma.

Sicuramente il periodo storico che apprezzo di più è quello postato detto da Andy Hood. La fine degli anni 60 e gli anni 70 sono ricchi di gruppi grandiosi che hanno fatto epoca e continuano ancora oggi ad influenzare e a piacere a tanti giovani.
Come gruppi penso:
Pink Floyd di Syd Barrett e senza di lui,
Doors,
Jimi Hendrix,
Janis Joplin,
King Krimson,
Genesis,
Led Zeppelin,
Deep Purple,
Jefferson Airplane
Velvet Underground
Beatles
Rolling Stones
Santana
Bob Dylan
Patty Smith
David Bowie
Iggy Pop

Non  ci sono altri decenni che possono sfornare gruppi di tal fatta e quindi penso che oggettivamente questo periodo sia stato il migliore in assoluto e penso anche ineguagliabile.
Dei giorni nostri ricordo con piacere solo tre o quattro gruppi:
U2
Radiohead (anche se certe volte sono un pò troppo  paranoici)
Primal Scream
Nirvana

Credo sul libro di Walter Benjamin " L'opera d'arte nell'epoca della riproducibilità tecnica"...venga definita proprio "aura"...
Mi fido del buon Benji.

Probabilmente le contingenze sono state fondamentali, ed è così. Ma che ci vuoi fare? La storia è questa, purtroppo i Clash, io e qualche altro musicista sconosciuto siamo nati dopo e ci siamo persi le "cause fortunate" che hanno creato quel vulcano in eruzione di grandiosa musica (e non solo...basti guardare gli altri campi dell'arte...con personaggi come Warhol, Kerouac e Kubrick tra i tanti).

Eppoi il fatto che TUTTI gli artisti successivi abbiano contribuito a questa mitizzazione, è anche cosa nota.

Sicuramente il periodo 60- 70 ha aperto le danze, dischi d'ogni tipo e tanti discorsi fatti e rifatti; se per un istante mi fermo e seguo la mia generazione, scopro che la sua ricchezza non è da meno, anzi c'è da vedere molto, ci sono da chiarire tantissime cose su certe certezze troppo facili da seguire e da confermare. Per svariati motivi concordo con la lista di dark_psychosys , aggiungendo tantissimi altri grandi dischi, il periodo 88-98 fa davvero paura.

Per i miei gusti, trovo che l'ultimo anno veramente grandioso sia stato il 2001...
E anche il '96.



quoto, aggiungendo 1998 e un po' anche il 2003 (in cui è uscito uno dei miei dischi preferiti degli ultimi 5 anni: "6" dei Supersilent! questa annata 2006 la trovo un po' scialba per ora.

Il periodo più ricco per i miei gusti è quello che va dal 1969 all'inziio degli '80, in cui il rock si libera dell'ingombro di un quartetto di tre discreti musicisti, stucchevoli, ottimi canzonettari, ma incredibilmente sopravvalutati (anche oggi),  esplode il progressive, si espande, dando vita a capolavori inarrivabili, parallelamente nasce il rock più puro e d'autore dei Led Zeppelin e dei deep Purple  e poi declina e poi, passata la semiboiata (ed ancor più sopravvalutata)  punk, esplode il post-punk, con nuova linfa, con album come "Seventeen seconds e "Closer" e quello stava intorno.
Soprattutto nei primi anni '70, quando uscivano uno o due dischi all'anno di Yes, King Crimson, Pink Floyd, ELP, Caravan, Van Der Graaf, Genesis di Gabriel, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, era roba da sentirsi male al ricordo.

Dici poco...il '96 è un'annata musicale coi controc**i!

appunto, "preferisci"; si tratta solo di gusti. Quindi non ha molto senso impostare una discussione su una presunta oggettività del "periodo più ricco"... sarebbe meglio dire "il tuo periodo preferito".

Il mio periodo preferito è '67 e dintorni e i primi '70, per il periodo piú ricco dico i '90.

Gli anni settanta sicuramente...che iniziano nel 67 e finiscono nell'83:) il periodo meno ricco invece, secondo me, è quello che stiamo vivendo (dal 98 in poi). Urge ripresa!

A parte le evidenti mancanze della lista di cui sopra,questo thread si trasformerà in una disputa sui criteri di scelta di un decennio e se considerare lo zero o l'uno di partenza.
Ma soprattutto sull'effettiva utilità di queste generalizzazioni quando invece le grandi svolte del rock non sono mai coincise perfettamente con il cambio delle decine.
