Dopo l'EP CUSTOMER COPY (grezzissimo ma ovviamente molto valido) nuovo album a giugno per la mia amata Mattiel.

Su suggerimento di Spotify, credo dopo aver ascoltato assai la ragazza qua sopra, scopro in settimana questo splendido progetto da Liverpool. Coordinate simili ma meno garage e più pop.

Creatura creata da Louisa Roach, sponsorizzata e prodotta da James Skelly dei Coral.

Nel disco finisce un po' di tutto, dal drempop di Paradise (https://www.youtube....h?v=pI0pGhnb2Vo) alla ormai consone atmosfere degli Allah-Las (https://www.youtube....h?v=5gXxNWhTCIo) passando per lo spoken di Revolution (https://www.youtube....h?v=TZ13r4JFTx4) fino ad arrivare a certi chitarroni (https://www.youtube....h?v=0cgMHQnSMrg).

Nulla di nuovo ma una piacevole colonna sonora estiva, almeno per me.

Il disco non l'ho ancora ascoltato quindi non saprei, ma apprezzo il tentativo di smorzare immediatamente ogni entusiasmo.

A parte i tre singoloni postati da Garp il resto dell'album e' al massimo caruccio. Gradevole e intelligente, ma non parte mai. 

Peccato, speravo di averne trovata finalmente una che mi convincesse in questa pletora di donzelle che si rifanno all'alt-rock 90s per raccontare i giorni nostri. Le trovo quasi tutte carine, bravine, simpatichine, ma non ce ne' una che graffi veramente. Marika Hackman e la Barnett si sono spente ancora prima di accendersi veramente, spero qualcosina ancora in Torres, ma dopo la deludentissima terza prova mi sa che si e' persa pure lei.

Sentito stamattina le prime canzoni, mi farò un'idea più chiara con altri ascolti: per me rimane comunque una voce interessante e con una tendenza allo storytelling del quotidiano senza troppe pose hipster. Gli arrangiamenti sono comprensibilmente meno rockeggianti che con la band, ma la grinta rimane sostanzialmente la stessa - zero lagne insomma.

Canzone ineccepibile, tutto perfetto, il ritmo tenuto su dal pianoforte, l’assenza di un ritornello, i gridolini infantili, gli ingressi sotto traccia di batteria e sax (Enrico Gabrielli), i due brevi voli pindarici che spezzano il tono basso mantenuto in tutto il pezzo che la prima volta che l’ho sentiti mi si è rizzato ogni singolo pelo del braccio. E poi lei semplicemente stupenda nel video, in cui non succede niente perché basta lei.

 

Mi è girato tantissimo il cazzo ammettere che Party però a parte questo e un altro paio di pezzi non sia riuscito a svettare e librarsi da un folk pop magari spesso vicino a Nick Drake, che è sempre cosa buona e giusta, però troppo lineare e alla fine impersonale.
